Off-Road and Budget - Snow Chains

For kids who want to use these SUVs in the mud and woods, hold 'em until you really start playing with them. As far as using snow, they're great anywhere, and as far as I've lived there's a creaky bed that freezes from high water. I put these on and I was blown away by the grip they gave. That being said, a V-Bar chain would be a better choice, but for a kid on a budget trying to get it running in 6+ inches of snow, this is new in my opinion.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I can't remember but there was something

Good Tracks: Tires and Wheels

I started out by buying peerless Auto-Trac tracks. They seem fine, just not heavy enough for hill hunting in my jeep. I sent them back and received these. These are steel tracks and appear to be much better constructed. I try them on in the driveway and they fit great. I tightened them, then rolled forward and tightened another link and they were tight as soon as I flipped the cams. My tires are Mickey Thompson 265/75/16. I'll update after this hunting season if they don't work.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Hard to say

A little loose at 265/70/r17 but tightens quite tight after that.

Slightly loose at 265/70/r17 but tightens up enough after rolling and adjusting. The cams didn't do much for my tire size, but the rubber center hooks (QG20074) helped a lot. They must be activated. Strong chains will never break and break anything. A little beat with the speed, but that's most likely an operator error. I will say it takes time to put them on properly and you will get wet/dirty but one day they will help you get through it all.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Pretty good value Tires and wheels

I am happy with this purchase. The chains fit well (QG2228CAM), fits my All Terrain LT275/65/18 tires. I've never had cam chains and they worked well for checking fit and going fast. After riding a bit I loosened 4 cams and then tightened the outer skid with another chain link and then re-tightened the cams. They are not electroplated and are well made in terms of chain strength etc. While not premium chains (no v-bar, need to be fitted the traditional way by driving forward etc.) they should…

These are the best chains I have ever owned

Great chains. Very durable. I bought 2 sets to hitch all 4 wheels in 4WD. The cams allowed me to press the tracks very hard against the tires. I was able to crawl through loose 18 inches of snow and even some pretty steep slopes. Because I was chained, I was able to save other vehicles that weren't chained. I also used 6 point bungee for extra tension but it would be good and tight enough without the bungee. I could also drive 35 mph on paved roads with no snow. Being able to keep the chains on

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Low repairability

Good solid chains for tires

So these chains seem extremely strong and so far I am very happy with the purchase. They're easy to put on only if you know what you're doing and take the time to play with them at home well before your next ride on snowy/icy roads. DO NOT wait to get dressed if you are already making your way through the snow. Watch the video, read the instructions and most importantly, be patient and take your time (at home when it's a nice warm day outside). And take your time. Built-in cams work great, but…
