Being new to pastels, my previous sets were good but pretty messy. Since I wanted to focus on portraits, I decided it was worth spending a little more to get a good set. It was the best choice. I could do that. Not only is there a wide range of shades to choose from for skin tones, they blend beautifully and make for very little mess. Once applied they don't smudge like some of my other pastels. I highly recommend them to both beginners and professionals.

The sticks are oily and the colors are vibrant, but I have two flaws - one small and one large. A small problem is that the sticks are squeezed so tightly by the surrounding foam that they are stored in a state where it is almost impossible to fish out the stick without breaking it. The main one is that it has to be a landscape set and there isn't a single magenta or purple in the set.
