🖥️ Enhanced Arduino Compatible Serial LCD Module - 20x4 Blue with White Backlight Review

I was able to set up the LCD in minutes. The program supplied is for the 16x2 LCD, but will work with this model as well. The addresses of the other two lines can be found in the data sheet. Keep in mind that there is an additional programming effort with each print compared to parallel versions (the pins saved are worth it).

This is a great LCD module that is extremely easy to program and use and looks great. There are many other LCD modules on the market, some even cheaper than this one. However, I think the best thing about this module is the .NKC seller. The service is incomparable! I have several of these modules and had issues with a few of them and NKC replaced them very quickly with no fuss. I will buy more!

So the display comes in an antistatic bag. That's all. No jumpers, pins, cables or documentation. The board is not marked. There is a limited number of documents (follow the links in the description) related to contacts. But they are not marked. There is example code, but it's for a 16x2 LCD. Unfortunately, while the quality seems high, this is making a comeback. Do not do that :)

The first module I received from this supplier was DOA. Connected 3 to 3 and nothing. There's not even a backlight. Completely dead. This LCD display with character is a good display for what you pay. However, please note that you are ordering a component and not a finished retail product. As another reviewer mentioned, if you've worked with serial LCDs or even parallel LCDs you can have this one up and running in minutes. Although it has a slightly different instruction set than Sparkfun's serial LCDs, they use the same instruction set as New Haven displays, of which there are many classes for different microcontrollers…

According to the comments above they are talking about J1 and J2 - Mine doesn't have a separate J1 or J2 - it's just a strip of 10 through holes. The sticker says NKC2004SD-SSW-BBW. Maybe it's the wrong block?

Damn easy to use. It took me maybe 3 minutes to get him to talk to the bus pirate (and most of the time I had to look up the bus pirate's pinout. I can never remember). The data sheet has everything you need. The guy complaining about the documentation shouldn't have the faintest idea what he's doing.
