Cardboard bag but good quality. As long as nobody tries to screw it up, you should be fine. Many interesting models and additions. I got this for my artistic son's 6th birthday and he loved it. I started sewing straight away. I like that the patterns are pre-cut and even have a little indentation where the needle (plastic or brushed metal) serves as a guide for learning to sew.

This sewing kit was appropriate for my age and my granddaughter and I enjoyed working together. I would recommend this if used under adult supervision. The only negative thing I would like to say about it is that I wish it had more detailed instructions so the child can understand it for more interactive play and learning activities. I also think it's a great rainy day activity for a child who is interested in sewing.

The product itself is excellent - gave this to an 8 and 10 year old and they both loved it! Some guidance from an adult is required as there are no actual instructions but the kits are perfect! Unfortunately, my last order came with a broken package. Supplied in a plastic envelope not a box so the clasp was broken and the box was dented. The instructions for each project in this set are illustrated so well my granddaughter learned everything she needed to know by following them. She loved it and went on to make her own pillow because she figured out how to make it. There is a metal needle, a plastic needle and pins. They are well packaged so if the kids are careful there is nothing to worry about. The needle threader is junk. I don't know why anyone makes them bigger. It won't cost much to buy your own.
