Good Urban Pedal: Pedals

I've been riding these pedals in Shimano SH-CT71L shoes for almost a year now, over 1500 miles. They are perfect for city traffic. On the fly, it's pretty easy to choose between clamping and non-clamping because the weight of the pedals is asymmetrical. Easy to clip in and out. Easy customization. The only downside is that the edges of the pedals are very hard on the feet. I scraped my shin a couple of times while cycling. This is definitely the result of my inattention and any other…

Pros
  • Best in their niche
Cons
  • Not as fat as others

Works very well, durable. Highly recommended.

I had this set on my mountain bike and my wife loved it so I transferred it to her bike. I ordered this set to take with me again. We are moderate mountain bikers. I've never had a problem with them coming loose on the track. It's pretty easy to get caught taking off. The springs are adjustable so you can adjust them if needed. I never had to adjust them at all. I also like the large space for "normal" shoes for bike rides around the neighborhood with the kids. Works well.

Good build quality and performance for SPD cleats

These are my first pedals that somehow attach to shoes. You can adjust the tension to make it easier or harder to get off the pedals. At the lowest voltage you can pull straight up to get out. It's good if you're new to these pedals because you'll FORGET to disengage them as you learn. Otherwise, at higher tension, just twist your heel out to get out. You just have to stop in time by taking off your boot. The non-SPD side is good for when I just want to sit down and drive 1/2 hour to an hour…

Good pedals though. in Cycling

These were my first pedals without clips but I have some concerns. They work as expected but I would like to use a double sided clamp mechanism as it's a little tricky to attach. I have a 50 percent chance of finding the clip and no. Once I snap, they're fine. I got these to use regular pedals as I didn't have a clamp support shoe before. Now I know, but in practice it doesn't work as well as I thought. Conversely, pedals in regular shoes are just as difficult to find. I would perhaps advise…

Great concept, acceptable quality.

This is my second set of M324s - this one was on my new LHT Touring build, the last one was on a Fuji Touring build that has done about 4000 miles. I have two complaints: First, the polished/chromed finish on the pedal body is cheap - scrape the pavement once or twice and it starts to rust. Second, these pedals aren't considered "user serviceable," so if they start squeaking and squeaking after a few hundred miles, there's officially nothing that can be done. I managed to space things out…

All I need now is a pair of cycling boots

I have these style (but not the Shimano brand) single-sided SPD pedals on my trail bike and Look pedals on my road bike. This meant it was difficult to walk in two pairs of cycling shoes and Look shoes when I wasn't on the bike. These Shimano PD-M324 SPD double platform pedals were very easy to mount on my road bike with an Allen key. I coated the thread with grease so that it can be easily removed if necessary. The aluminum body feels strong and durable. The clips on the shoe snap easily and…

  • High marks for grip and durability from testers

Versatile and great

To be clear, these pedals are not meant for racing. It never was and never will be. They're too heavy and, as some commenters say, can scrape the ground on tight corners. BUT if you are like me and want to use your bike for multiple purposes then these pedals are perfect for that. I have them on a 2009 Cannondale CAAD 9 (pretty cool road bike) but I also use this bike for my Spring/Summer/Fall Friday commutes 33 miles (one way). Also, I like to walk around town in regular shoes and don't worry…

Pros
  • Great all round performance
Cons
  • Hard to say

My second set! best pedals

I love these all-weather pedals. I originally bought these pedals blind when I first bought the bike because the store recommended them. After 8 years of service they started to wear out a little worse so I replaced them with Crank Brothers flip flop pedals. What absolute rubbish! I dabbled in commuting for 6 months before I said enough. So I bought "other" Shimano flip-flop pedals. It was an improvement, especially when cropped, but the uncut side was complete garbage. Have been doing this for
