You will receive chain pins, not ball bearings.

Shimano chain pin with a small indentation at the end is easy to install. Detailing is excellent, with a slight burr for a snug fit on the side links. Perfect design. So five stars. The price seems absolutely outrageous to me. A star.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • Low repairability

The picture is obviously wrong. The product consists of three replacement chain pins for Shimano 7/8-speed chains. Installing the new chain was easy with the right pin setting tool and the remaining pins went to my emergency supplies in my travel bag.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Upgrade availability

If you're old fashioned and pushing back the pin after a chain breaks, you won't even know you need it (until your chain breaks mid-ride). But you'll need them if you're using Shimano's fancy chain: (1) This is the method Shimano recommends (not recommended: no alternatives); and (2) it's easier than putting the old pin back in anyway. Much easier.

Pros
  • Great Value
Cons
  • Something Different

They work - not so much

These chain pins worked for me - I used one with a Shimano CN-HG50 6/7/8 speed chain I bought from Revain also have. I installed the chain, it worked fine, but I found I left it on for too long - I didn't remove a single link from the chain. Therefore, when the chain rotated on itself in lower gears, there was nothing good in it. Unfortunately, Shimano only supplies the chain pin with the chain, so I had to buy a spare set here to shorten it - you can't reuse the pins once they're in the chain.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Having trouble

I trust Shimano quality to hold my chain together

Shimano CN-M732 Chain Bolts (7/8 Speed) 3 piece set is just what I need to secure my 8 speed Shimano chain reconnect to my mountain bike. The pulled out pin is easy. Using my Oumers bike chain tool, the pin snapped easily into place, letting me know it was in when I felt a slight release of pressure as I rotated the tool. Once attached, the unwanted part of the pin can be easily ripped off with pliers. Knowing these pins are made by Shimano, I'm sure they will stay in place while riding and…
