The seals fell out on the 1st set and were replaced on the 2nd pair.

Very bad product. And add that Shimano is aware of the issue. The seals around the axle came loose after 2 rides with the first pair and after 1 ride with the replaced pedals. This seal protects the axle from dirt and grime, which is very important. Won't buy again until Shimano fixes the issue and I'm a big Shimano fan!

  • Satisfied so far

World's best cycling product

I've been using SPD pedals since the early 1990's, I think this was my first set. Switched to 747 SPDs in 1998 and rode them until I bought these. That's right, 20 years on one set. I have ridden them over 15km and expect them to continue the triad. I will update my review in about a year. After about 30 trips to them I am satisfied. All are expected.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Minor issues

Excellent goods. The best SPD pedals.

Exactly what I ordered. Looks like a decoration compared to my worn out pd-m540s. I know the quality of the product and I received no less than expected. Rschunimagu. The only non-Dura-Ace component on my bike has to be of the same quality as everything else. Now this. Yes. I ride a high end road bike and hate roadie pedals. Thank you mountain bikers for good pedals. and my hydraulic discs.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • high price

Break resistance - high performance

I've had Shimano XT Deore pedals for over 2 years with overly hard riding, lots of pedaling and they're still durable. Upgraded to xtr (same success for a few bucks more) and can already say I'll have them for a long time! ONE CONS: I put new cleats on my shoes and the left cleat wouldn't stay put no matter how hard the pedal was. The leg comes out with little effort when moving up.

Pros
  • Tough finish
Cons
  • There are new competitors

XTR pedals, what else can I say.

I've been using Shimano XTR mountain bike pedals since the 90s. I even use them on my road bikes as I'm not a fan of duck walking in road shoes. If my bike ever breaks down and I have to run a distance, I'd rather wear running shoes than racing shoes. Anyway I'm sure the pedals have changed a lot over the years but I just bought a new kit for a new gravel bike and they seem to be of the same quality as my previous ones.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not everything fits

I'm glad I took the risk. If you don't mind the extra $$ it's worth it.

I've always ridden on cheap versions of these pedals. However I ride about 600 miles a month and do notice wear for shorter periods on the pedals requiring frequent tightening of the clamps etc. I have used them quite a bit now and after 500 miles they are still as good as new. Rain and terrain will not leave a rust stain and I will definitely buy it again if I need it.

  • Pleasant

These premium pedals have a serious known design flaw

Bought to replace an old set of XTR pedals when the axle broke after 8 years. At first glance they appear to be a well built premium pedal. They are light and the engagement is strong and light. The problem, however, is that after only 100 miles of driving, the dust seal failed on both sides. I pushed them back in with my fingernail, but they immediately popped out. It's too early to tell, but I bet these pedals will fail prematurely because of dust, water, or dirt getting into the bearings. A…

The pedals supplied by the seller have a known gasket problem

I was hoping that Shimano had fixed the known gasket problem in the new XTR pedals but unfortunately the pedals I received from Revain still have a known one issue with the design. Essentially what happens is that the inner pedal body opens up around the perimeter of the spindle on the side of the pedal body during normal use. This opens up the interior of the pedal to everyday dirt, which will almost certainly lead to premature wear of the pedal's internal mechanisms. You can study this issue…
