Easy install with online video with instructions

No bike shops near me + I had to replace my brake cable during the pandemic as my bike was my main trainer at the time. With a YouTube-like video, it was very easy to install. Adjusting the brake is tricky but has nothing to do with the cable.

Good cable easy to install

I bought these to replace a fairly rusty rear brake cable on my bike. I reused the old outer shell and just removed the old cable and then plugged in the new one. It was a very simple installation done after watching an online video on how to do it. The brakes work great! I would recommend to anyone looking for a new brake cable.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Upgradeable

I trust Shimano cables. Point!

The first thing I learned as a mechanic ever since index shifters became popular in the 80's was that you have to have the best cable from any manufacturer or things won't work as they were designed. Of course there are other options today, but when I need a cable for one of my own bikes, whether with Shimano or Campagnolo gear, I always use branded cables to get the best results!

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Weight

FALSE ADVERTISED - Not stainless steel

Description says stainless steel. It's not stainless steel. It is extremely magnetic while stainless steel is not. The product is also referred to as "Steel Brake Inner Cableโ€ on the packaging. Nowhere on the packaging does it say "stainless steel". Unfortunately I had already removed the old cable so I had to use this till and not a true stainless steel product. FRAUD WARNING! Update: Here is the stainless steel cable after a few months. SS will NOT rust. It's also non-magnetic, which is. Beโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Need a new long brake cable for the rear rim brake on the tandem

Bought a used tandem T-900 chain and brakes were terrible. I tried new pads but couldn't lock the wheels. I suspected the cable was stretched when I pulled the brake lever. I bought another universal cable set to keep handy, but none of the cables were long enough. This Shimano cable was a little more expensive than the regular set but it was just the length I needed - 2050mm. The kit I already had on hand included an outer sleeve so I replaced the cable and sleeve and now I have a working rear

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Few negatives
