Great for cassettes and ratchets

I bought this for an 08 foot Bianchi Pista. The only other upgrades are the front/rear brakes. It was very easy to install. I just removed the rear wheel and screwed it on. The whole thing took 5 minutes. I drove around Rode 20 miles, all smooth, not too noisy and barely pedaling when coasting. In general I'm happy.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Secret

Great price for an elegant Silent Assassin!

Bought this Shimano freewheel to put in my only gear. The freewheel is smooth and very quiet. It's a bit noisy when you first drive it because the lube has to work, but once you've driven it for about 1 or 2 miles it gets really quiet. The coast is beautiful! I'm glad I got it at a good price.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Modern

Smooth coasting, crisp pedals

Coasting is smooth and quiet. Not much kicking. It makes a clicking noise depending on where I start pedaling (but once I lock the pedals, the pattern matches the rotation of the tire). I've read elsewhere that it's just about being unlucky with what I have. If you want to be sure this doesn't happen to you, it's best to switch to White Industries freewheel.

Pros
  • Best in class
Cons
  • Big and bulky

appears to be of good quality; smooth, straight and quiet

Haven't ridden yet so take this review for what it's worth. Looks/feels sturdy and well made. Spins smoothly and very quietly (reverse). There is no "backlash" when turning from the side. Good straight and true runout. Arrived a bit smeared. Screwed onto the hub by hand, simple and perfect. Feels hard/heavy in a good way. The actual weight of me is 6.5 ounces. Will give 5 stars if it performs as well in eye/hand tests.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

For my single speed 1/2*1/8

Rarely do reviews. When I did it with my single speed I just HAD to write something about it. FICTION. SO quiet I can literally sneak up on a ninja; not even the spider can hear me coming. It was easy to install with little to no effort compared to removing the last freewheel I had on my bike that was stuck. We remind you to lubricate the threads on the bike and freewheel before assembly. I used Lucas lithium grease to prevent future seizure. You will thank me later.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • unreliable

Install my Kent Thruster 700 Fixie for a speed boost.

Fits my Wally-Mart Kent Thruster 700 Fixie. I like the 16 tooth rev increase. compared to 18T but I'm very glad it's flat here. It's so quiet here that I now need to ring the bell to warn passers-by that I'm coming. The click of inertia is almost imperceptible, if you hear anything at all. The 18 tooth Chinese freewheel it came with didn't have a gear to turn it because the dimples are so shallow. I've read of others cutting into it with a chisel and then hitting it counter-clockwise with aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

UPDATE: Added video to show how quiet this one is compared to others :) The first thing that struck me about this ratchet was that it was a bit stickier than my old ratchet. Not much, but it was noticeable. I believe this is due to the (probably) thicker lube used in this one. BUT. You can only really tell the difference by rotating it with your finger. WILL NOT matter if it's on your bike. You won't be able to tell. I have a pretty powerful electric bike and with my old freewheel it made aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • I won't say anything
