Description of 🔪 Optimized for Search: Shun Classic Blonde 5-Piece Knife Block Set - Chef’s, Utility, and Paring Knives with Honing Steel and Block; PakkaWood Handles, VG-MAX Blades, Large

Three essential knives you need in your kitchen – 8” chef's, 6" utility, and 3. 5" paring – plus a honing steel in one sleek, convenient block. The beautifully modern, D-shaped, blonde PakkaWood handle encases the full composite tang blade for balance, reducing unwanted rotation and improving grip for right and left-handed chefs alike. Add fine Japanese cutlery to your kitchen in three convenient sizes made to handle virtually any food prep task. These knives combine traditional Western styles with thin, hard, and razor-sharp Japanese steel. Handcrafted in Japan, these kitchen knives are ground and honed to a razor sharp 16-degree edge out of the box. They’re balanced immediately forward of the bolster like most Shun knives for superior handling. Santoku, nakiri, boning, slicing, or steak – Shun blades glide through food when used in a back-and-forth or rocking motion that applies some force parallel to what's being cut, letting the edge do the work.

Sharpening tool not light pakka wood but great knives

sharpening tool made from darker wood rather than light wood and looks like an eyesore compared to nice knives with light wood handles. As expected, the knives are great! Excellent knives, dubious sharpening tool

Pros
  • certified
Cons
  • not sure

Sharpening steel not as advertised

I bought this set to complement other light wood knives I have bought and unfortunately the sharpening steel is not the same color as the wood. I had to buy the blond sharpening steel separately and I really hope that it's the right color this time!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Great way to start a set

This is a great knife set for the price and the perfect way to start a new knife set. Very light and razor sharp. The D-grip isn't for everyone, so I suggest looking into a Japanese-style grip before handling. Another suggestion as your collection grows, but a new knife block. It doesn't justify knives.

Excellent knives. Ridiculously sharp!

I already had a Shun 7 inch boning knife and found myself just reaching for it for everything, even though I own a couple of German quality knives. Shuns, like most German blades, are sharpened 22 degrees versus 18 degrees. This is achieved with a much stronger steel core that lasts. This set is perfect for all my kitchen knife needs and the block had room for my original boning knife.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Negative impression

Let my video explain it to you. zero stars. DO NOT BUY.

Watch my video. I bought both the Shun knife set and the basic store bought knife block for $60. I was really looking forward to my new Shun knives. Shun's knife, after following the sharpening instructions, couldn't even cut a tomato without crushing it. The $60 knife block (11) fared much better. Absolute waste of time and money. I will be back and keep my heritage brand that really cuts food.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Disappear

Super Sharp and Excellent Quality

I have had a set of Shun knives for over ten years. Bought this set for my daughter. Shun knives are very sharp (accidentally cut fingertip without feeling it, only noticed when the cabbage I cut had a red tint, so be careful). The sharpness is strong, you just need to use honing steel regularly. Knives are light and easy to use, but when you're cutting tough foods like acorn squash, heavier European knives (Wusthoff, Henckels, etc.) work better.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Sharpened not light wood

I ordered this Shun Classic Blonde set when I saw it on sale. I've wanted one for a while. When I received it the honing tool was NOT the same light wood color as shown in the pictures, it is darker wood and looks weird. I called Revain customer service and they immediately sent me another set. The replacement set came with the same issue but with a darker honing tool. This is a great set and I will keep one and return the other. I'm not happy it wasn't a match set. The sharpener is now in the…
