Great vocal mic

I bought the PGA58 after long debating buying the XM8500. This is a great microphone for the price. The sound quality is excellent for both male and female vocals. noise problem. So if you put it on a mic stand, everything is fine. An additional pop screen helps when singing from less than 4 inches away. If you go to 6-7 inches, it works fine without a pop filter. The sound is very smooth and brings out the details of the voice when singing. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the volume…

Best mic in this price range

I was pleasantly surprised when I started singing into this mic. I was expecting something similar to the pg 48 model as it was in the price range. I could hear a wide range of frequencies and barely touched the edge settings. As for durability, we'll have to wait a little longer. So far I am very happy with this purchase. Also the fact that the mic is all black adds to the smoothness and makes the mic look 1000x better than the old grey.

Great mic for insults

This thing is built like a tank and works well for the price. Like its more expensive cousin (SM58), it's well made. The spoken word is crisp and clear, and if you use it for that, that's great. It's a bit flat for performance vocals, but it's still an acceptably cheap option for a solid beater mic. It doesn't win any awards for frequency response, but at this price point I wasn't expecting it either. Signal strength is a bit weak but on par with other dynamic mics I have. Overall, for a budget

Sounds like an SM58 when left untouched

I've been using this mic for a few weeks now and it sounds great. Another band member has SM58 and they are very similar. For a while we ran our mixer output through a Peavey Bandit 65 and couldn't hear the difference between the two. Our new speaker system has just arrived, and now we can see the difference: the PGA58 picks up all the mic stand noise, while the SM58 cuts out most, although the drums and guitars can't thump in the drums and beats can be heard. In general the difference between…

Microphone for my wedding! Great microphone!

I bought this microphone for my wedding in June. It was an outdoor wedding, so we also bought a Shure A58WS-BLK foam windscreen to try and maintain voice/audio quality. I'm by no means an audio engineer or audio guru, but the quality of voice dialogue we received from this mic was fantastic for our wedding. Can't speak to its quality when used as a vocal mic or for bands. Pros: - Microphone range was good. You don't have to be close to your lips to understand speech. The angular range in which…
