On our garden hose, it lost effectiveness after a few months. After we installed it for the first time, the problem seemed to be solved. The knock later returned. The knock starts in a narrow flow range. We need to open the valve quickly after that point to calm it down again.

This product has reduced, but not eliminated, water hammer. This is for an outside faucet I installed on a long copper pipe in the attic. I think by distance the amount of water moves enough that a bigger device or maybe two such devices would completely solve the problem.

I ended up buying a new HE front loading washing machine to replace a 20 year old Neptune that eventually died. First download. Clap! Clap! Clap! Every time the valves on a new washing machine close, which often happens during a wash cycle. Bought two of these babies. Installed it with no problems. And, oh, no more water hammer when washing. My wash hoses hit the wall and the back of the washing machine with constant on/off washing. These arresters have greatly reduced that impact, so the hoses no longer hit the wall or the washing machine. I'm sure they protect the pipes in the walls and also prevent the hoses from bursting. I only installed them two weeks ago, so I can't say how long-lasting they will be.

I used this on the cold water side of a washing machine water supply line. Easy to connect and function as needed, absorbing sudden pressure drops in water lines due to washing machine and sprinkler valves abruptly shutting off the water. The water supply to the washing machines is left open at all times, so a hammer protects all cold water pressure lines throughout the house. This is a must for PVC pressure pipe in a sprinkler system to prevent leaks.

There were hopes. Thought it would work. Installed on an external faucet, with a water supply timer that slams. Doesn't work very well for that. This dampened the hammer a bit but was still there caused by the timer triggering. Maybe the 90 psi I have in the faucet. You can buy another one and install it on the washing machine and then install a larger flame arrestor just in front of the outdoor faucets. No returns…

Moved to a new house in April this year. We brought a washer and dryer that we used in our former home. They never caused water hammer at the previous location. In a new home, the washer and dryer, the toilet, or even the sink faucets create water hammer that echoes throughout the house. I installed two of these traps directly on the washing machine, one each on the hot and cold water lines.
