I use this lens to photograph high-resolution songbirds, which is nice because the optical stabilization allows me to take great pictures at maximum zoom [400mm] while holding it in my hands . The image quality and zoom of this lens are impressive. There are a few minor quibbles though: sometimes the autofocus 'sneaks' around, as others may have mentioned, but usually only on a relatively distant subject. This lens needs a lot of light.
