Good expansion card on FireWire port cards

If you need FireWire, this is a good card. With a limited number of board inserts, combining FireWire with other options like eSATA could make for an excellent card, but if you only want FireWire then that's fine.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Annoying

High power connectors with my preferred connector type, provides power for FW400, 600 or 800 devices and I protect my Mac Pro's motherboard connectors in the event of overcurrent damage. good firmware

Ideal for Pro Tools users looking for a Firewire interface

Exactly what I was hoping for. Bought this for my setup to record music with Pro Tools and PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2. That works great.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Questionable buy for seniors

Error-free installation and integration with PRO 14

I installed this I/F card in a high-performance digital audio workstation after disabling its VIA-based internal FW interface. I settled on the SIIG TI based interface after reading the Focusrite (Saffire Pro 14) compatibility info. I'm happy to report that the installation and integration with Saffire PRO 14 went flawlessly. The interface, along with the PRO 14, is vastly superior to a similar USB interface I've used (M-Audio C400). Now I can increase the buffer size (1024 bytes) and get less…

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Can be damaged

Perfect solution for the M-Audio FW-410 sound card

I know there are many like me who have had problems with the M-Audio FW-410 sound card connecting to their computers via the port Firewire works. When I was creating a new DAW for my studio, I knew this was one of the most important parts I needed to get it working properly. So I settled on the SIIG 3PORT NN-E38012-S3 Firewire 800 Pcie card hoping it would work. This is the Texas Instruments chipset. I know M-Audio recommends SIIG, and I can. My sound card worked fine every time I started it up

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Updates

Costs money. in Computer Components

I bought this because my new computer didn't have FireWire 800 ports I'm using a Fireface 800 and I'm having trouble with the drivers. I installed the card and then the 800 driver from the CD. I had to go into device manager and update the driver for the 3 port card. Once I did that everything else fell into place and I can now use my Fireface 800. - April 2015 Update - Well there was a reason my computer didn't have Firewire ports. Win 7 rewrote their FireWire drivers and they are dropping…

  • New to my collection

You'll be fine: FireWire port cards

Buy these. That's exactly what you need. And the quality is higher than the competition. Recommended by Avid if you want to upgrade to a FireWire audio interface and need a FireWire PCIe card.
