Great device for laptops without ethernet ports or computers with broken ethernet ports.

Works great. I use it all the time for work. When configuring wireless routers, I like to configure all settings with a wired connection from my thin laptop that doesn't have an ethernet port. Works great when connected via USB 3.0, easily reaching full speed like a real wired connection. After many uses I had no problems with this product. SIIG USB Type-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

With many new laptops lacking Ethernet ports, this type of adapter is becoming essential. My 9 year old Lenovo T61 recently ran out so I replaced it with a Dell 14-5000. This computer is used primarily when traveling and the rest of the time it sits on a filing cabinet connected to my LAN where it syncs with my desktop device. Slim Laptop Adapter

Well the downside to buying one of these very thin laptops is that a lot of the ports you previously had don't fit the sides of the unit. So you need to carry some adapters to go from "mini" versions to what was on a fat laptop. This allows me to connect to the internet with a hard cable in case the hotel wifi doesn't work (those of you who travel often understand the reality). V1 broken junk - no support no new drivers for newer operating systems

DO NOT BUY VERSION 1 EVEN IT IS CHEAP. Not sure what purpose SIIG sells junk for and doesn't even support it on their website. There are no drivers (and yes there is different hardware inside so the drivers are not compatible so I tried them). It would also be good if the manufacturer did not make incomprehensible market movements with iron. V1 does not work on newer versions of Mac OS when the system is updated. That worked great before. Not the fastest adapter, but the most reliable.

This product lost a star because I can't get Ethernet speeds over 350Mbps with it, while I can get read and write speeds over 950Mbps with my other adapters (I have Google Fiber ). However, if you don't have Google Fiber, this product is fast enough for your needs and the most reliable USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter I've tested. Many USB 3.0 Ethernet adapters require special drivers, and if the connection is lost you will need to restart your computer before reconnecting. My experience with this SIIG
