Save or go broke. skip it

This pump is firmly rooted in the neutral zone. Not terrible, but not very good either. The cartridge barely stays on your valve and the action is no better than a cheaper pump. It is better to save money and buy a cheaper model.

Pros
  • Rugged Construction
Cons
  • High Price

A good addition to any home bike shop

Everything about the pump indicates high-quality workmanship. The only downside is the difficulty in putting the head on the presta valve and then removing it without much effort. This should get easier with more use and some wear but just remember right out of the box it's not as easy as some other designs. The pump is stable, accurate and runs smoothly when inflating tires.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Save money and upgrade to $275. Silca

This pump was $150 and looked flimsy. My specialized pump has a better pump than this. The dial could have been bigger to handle MTB and road bike pressure. You need glasses to figure out 20 or 25 psi. The mechanism that blocks the Presta valve requires too much force to remove. My conclusion is if you don't pay 275 for the next upgrade don't even bother. There are significantly better pumps with better dials in this price range. A one star rating seems a bit excessive because the pump worksโ€ฆ

Good solid pump with accurate pressure gauge

I bought a Silca Pista Plus pump together with a Silca Hiro Presta Chuck. The pump is beautifully built, with a beautiful wooden handle and sturdy metal legs. It's stable. Every action of the pump feels reliable and satisfying. I'm actually a bit addicted to this pump. Best of all, the Pista Plus meter is accurate compared to my Topeak smart digital meter. Not only that, unlike my previous inflation, no air escapes from the tire when loosening the chuck, so I don't have to inflate toโ€ฆ

  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • boring packaging

Poor pump efficiency, terrible cartridge

Received this pump as a Christmas present. The gauge cover came loose during shipping and looks like it was never installed properly as it wasn't crimped. The Presta cartridge only works half the time - it's either letting air through above 60psi or it's not seating properly. and there is no air in the tires. Finally, forget about inflating high-volume tires (29ers, 3+ inch MTBs, etc.) - each pump stroke barely moves the gauge needle, and it will probably take over 100 strokes to bring a fatโ€ฆ

  • Impressive

Great pump with hard to see gauge

Considering the price and manufacturer I would expect very high quality and it certainly lives up to that bar. This is the third Silca pump. I bought a second one which I replaced in 1986 so durability has always been excellent. It has a very valuable longer hose, a wider, stronger handle, and a Presta cartridge that allows you to depressurize the valve/cartridge before removing it after inflation. Those are killer traits. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that Silca chose to use blackโ€ฆ
