Actual write speed is class 10 (8-9 MB/s). The cache only spins up to 500MB/s and then drops again while the cache is flushed. Completely unsuitable for multitasking recording (developer workstation). UPDATE: 03/22/2019 - Drive failed after 10 months. First bad blocks appeared, and then eventually they stopped working. UPDATE 3/28/2019 - The system stops. The writing speed is about 5 MB/s. Attached image trying to write an 8GB file sequentially.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost never

It is what it is and works

Got it with a new Ryzen 1700, motherboard and 16GB RAM to replace my original 2009 5400rpm boot hard drive. My start time went from over 1.5 minutes to about 25 seconds. As soon as I log into my Windows account, I can start and actually use programs, whereas before I had to wait at least a few minutes to open Google Chrome with only <5 tabs. I don't know who Silicon Power is and rushed to buy it. It's been a month or more so far and no problems so far, so consider me satisfied

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Big and chunky

This SSD is getting hot! in internal SSDs

Although this SSD is on par with similar brands (SanDisk, Crucial, etc.) in terms of write and read speeds, an important difference is that it heats up a lot! I bought both 120GB (S55) and 512GB (A55) versions, one for the laptop and one for the desktop storage. Both clock in at 40 C when idling and then can climb to over 60 C with serious write/read. The other SSDs I have (one SanDisk, two Crucials, one Corsair) are about 10-15C cooler in any scenario. I have no idea how long two Silicon Power

Highly Recommended - Internal SSDs

This really helped bring new life to my aging computer. I didn't do as much detailed testing as many of the other reviewers, but I believe it works as expected. Crucially, I was trying to expand the capabilities of my desktop, which I bought about 4 years ago. The 2TB HDD not only filled up a little, it filled up anyway, and a large SSD was just a gimmick. This was the cheapest with the best reviews. It installed easily and Windows 10 recognized it with a slight hiccup (I had to go into Disk…

5 months and now he died

I bought this SSD for my Macbook Pro in April. It seemed to work fine for several months. Then when I backed up the hard drive with Apple Time Machine, the drive died. I removed the drive and tried connecting it externally to another computer, but the drive is constantly red and not recognized or connected. It could just be a bug and my SSD got corrupted somehow, but I would suggest you do your research and decide if this drive is worth the headache. I ended up returning it to SP and they…

Best SSD for the price 3-year warranty and speeds 3D NAND

Affordable SSD with performance that rivals some of the more expensive drives. For most people, the difference in performance when going from one to a Samsung, Crucial, or WD drive is negligible, even though these are currently the cheapest drives on Revain. The guarantee is 3 years if you sign up so I highly recommend that. With a 3-year warranty and the reliability and performance of SSDs, there's no reason to use hard drives anymore. I also have four of the 256GB drives in RAID on my server…

Pros
  • Great price

  • Some little things

High Bounce Rate 25%

I am a small local computer shop that has been in business for over 10 years. I've been upgrading client computers with SSDs for the last 4 years and I have a box of these that have all failed. I've bought over 1,000 SSDs in the past year, half from Silicon Power and half from bigger brands. Over the past 12 months, over 25% of Silicon Power drives have returned to me with errors. Where I've had maybe 1 or 2 larger branded slices, they just come back to me FAILED, not quite dead. I know I have…

This little drive is amazing value for money. For 5 x 1GB diskmark run

I bought this for my wife's Lenovo laptop with an I7-6500U core with 8GB RAM and Windows 10. The value for money of this little ride is amazing. For a disk labeled 5 x 1GB, disk averages are 526 MB/s read and 452.9 MB/s write for seq Q32T1164 MB/s read and 121 MB/s write for 4K Q32T1440 MB/s read and 275 MB/s s writing for seq10.42 MB/s reading and 64.8 MB/s writing for 4K (definitely a bit lower here than the MX500, for example). pretty close to the advertised speeds. We all know they're…

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
