All in one multifunction device, some long term problems

Pros: - Solid build quality with good connections. board) - Card reader support includes SDHC on the back, lots of cables for a peripheral device - The 5V/12V outputs are a bit esoteric, as is the silver (instead of beige) front bezel. - The ground loop in the headphone circuit is annoying. - I wish there was another USB port. The .-SD slot stopped working after a year.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Useful especially when using eSata devices

This is my second one. I use eStata external drives and it makes it easy to plug them in whenever I want. The only downside is that the power connections are reversed and should not be used; They blew one of my drives (positive and negative swapped) so do not use them and do not connect power internally when installing to ensure you are not accidentally attempted to use external power connections. But other than that, it's very handy for eSata and other ports in the front.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

The smart way to access your ports without having to move your computer.

I built my computer. But even now, not all manufacturers offer the convenience of front access card readers and FireWire or SATA ports. For me it was important to have Firewire on the front panel so as not to damage the hard drives when trying to move the computer just to connect/disconnect the cable. (I used to edit videos when I ran a nonprofit website); having to bend down to get to the back of the computer was so annoying! (Firewire connections are faster than USB / no need to install…

eSATA on tux boxes for computer accessories and peripherals

Just a quick note on the reviewer's comment that eSATA doesn't work. I'm also a Linux user and the problem is most likely not a defect in the Silverstone product (which I have and works great) but rather that a Fedora user mounted the new drive incorrectly. You need to go into the terminal and do some formatting and editing to make it work. I found it much easier to install and mount additional hard drives with Ubuntu than with Fedora. On Ubuntu I set them up using the Disk Utility GUI, but…

Good reader, bad cables

I bought this card reader for my new Silverstone Raven 03 case which doesn't have USB2.0 ports. The card reader looks good, but the USB, 1394, Sata, and HD audio cables are all 2 inches shorter than the corresponding motherboard connector (both products are made by the same company). the bottom of the motherboard (like most motherboards). However, with this Silverstone Raven 03 case, the "bottom” of the motherboard is on the back of the case. So the maximum distance from the front of the case…

Beware of power plugs

I bought this adapter because I thought I could use the power plugs with an external hard drive enclosure. After connecting everything and checking the power connection, I switched on my case. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Dead hard drive. It took two weeks for the exchange at Silverstone, but I didn't try the power connections again for fear. The eSATA port does not work. On the old or on the new. Although the USB port and card reader work fine. Fedora (Linux) users here.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Useless features

good reader with a few small problems

The reader works quite well, just a few problems. The card had 3 partitions: Linux ext2, Linux swap and FAT32 to run Android OS. This corruption didn't happen when I used my laptop to read, so I think this reader just can't handle non-FAT partitions. Lesson learned: I need to access the SD card from my phone. The 8 GB SDHC FAT32 card I tested worked perfectly. 2) Right-click the removable card drive and click Safely Remove to remove the drive before rebooting. The FP34 also had this problem…

Greatly improved product for computers and accessories

This is a significant improvement over the FP34. In addition to adding e-SATA (and probably useless 12/5V outlets), far fewer USB ports are used. The FP34 has 2.5 connectors: one for USB ports, one for card readers, and a half connector for power. Many motherboards only have 2 USB ports, so it really didn't matter when you had to choose between USB ports and a card reader. The FP35 comes with USB connection cable, 1394A connection cable, AC97/HD audio combo cable, SATA cable and 4-pin Molex…
