Dissatisfied with lack of heat

You have to put your hand within an inch of a lightbulb to feel the heat, and the heat it radiates from that distance is almost imperceptible.

Pros

Cons
  • Many things

Great for my geckos

I bought this because I have crested gecko babies and needed to maintain a certain temperature at night. It worked great. Would definitely recommend for a small reptile.

Pros
  • reptiles and amphibians
Cons
  • Some issues

Barely worked. Best in Category Heat Lamps

This item was a huge disappointment. It was hardly hot. I mean it felt scalding. But the heat came out only 3 inches from the bulb, and then it was imperceptible. Definitely didn't work for what we intended to use it for, which is to keep the chickens warm. We ended up using a red incandescent bulb and it worked great. It was in the box about 5 minutes after I tried it and found it was useless. It could be good for a lizard shell or something. but even then I don't think it would really achieve

Pros
  • Terrarium Heat Lamps and Mats
Cons
  • Doubtful Purchase for the Elderly

So far, so good. Do-it-yourself borehole pump heater.

So far they are holding up well and protecting our above ground well from freezing. We have a poorly insulated surface well pump with exposed piping. Last year there was frost and we were without water for some time. This year we installed two lightbulb sockets in series, connected them to a thermostatic socket and then connected their wires to the fountain pump's 240V constant current terminals. This reduces the voltage to the required 120 volts at each "light bulb". It looks like they'll last

Pros
  • Heat Lamps
Cons
  • A few little things
