Great Little Pumps - Aquarium Pumps and Filters

These are really great little pumps. I have one on a 5g reef where the HOB filter is not providing enough flow. The fact that you can control the amount of flow is amazing. I also have one in my palette that's flipped most of the way down to give my chaeto ball a nice smooth, safe drape. The long cord is a nice bonus. I hate power heads/pumps with short cables - very annoying. I've had one running for at least a year so they're built to last. Easy to clean.

Pros
  • Test for a Year
Cons
  • Disappear

Put this pump on Aquarium pumps and filters

Bought to replace the pump in a water bowl at home. First I noticed a strange oil over the block. It won't come off your hands or the pump itself without multiple washes. I took the pump apart and soaked it in white vinegar and water to clean it before use, but found the oil to be stable. Even a wash attempt with Dawn brought no results. It turned on and worked fine, but I wouldn't trust them with anything meant for a pet. Will return.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Doubtful

I bought these to replace the same pump in one.

I bought this pump to replace the same pump in my birdbath. First worried that unlike the previous pump, it doesn't use a grounding plug. This isn't a problem as the outlet it plugs into is GFI protected. It's very quiet and does what it's supposed to. I read in another review that the adapters that came with it don't fit. The pump comes with an adapter already installed, which must be removed first to install other adapters.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • So far so good

After a month it started making noises

This little pump worked fine at first, but after a little over a month it became loud enough to drown out the sound of rushing water. I have cleaned and adjusted it many times and it has never worked the way it started out. Of course, the return window closed after a month. I didn't notice that he had such a short return period, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it at all. It usually takes more than a month for mechanical things to fail, so obviously this manufacturer knows it is an inferior…

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Don't expect much from the instruction manual

Decent price for a small pump like all other small pumps made in China. The owner's marshal says he can enter or exit the water. The next paragraph says never let it run out of water. There are references to illustrations, but no illustrations. There are three adapters. They can be used between polyethylene pipes of different diameters. You almost use them yourself, but if you have decades of experience, or even a few years, you can probably get it working. The power level is very low…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Good but not great

Enough pumps for small fountains - 2 foot stroke

UPDATE (04/06/2019): Small plastic parts can be used to connect small diameter tubing to the pump. Plastic part for fastening pipes of different diameters. It doesn't come out easily - and it shouldn't. A small hose clamp should be included with the kit to ensure the hose stays attached to the adapter regardless of the size used. If possible, the largest diameter hose should be used if this pump is to be used in a circulation well. Hope this pump lasts a few years. INITIAL REVIEW (3/31/2019)…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion
