Description of šŸ§µ Ultimate Transparency: SINGER 00260 Clear Invisible Nylon Thread

1 spool of clear 100% nylon thread. Used as "invisible" thread, negating need to match thread color to fabric. Nylon thread works well with machine quilting, crafts and home decoration. Nylon thread is high strength and low on stretch, making it well suited for stringing beads and making jewelry. Each spool contains 135 yards of clear nylon thread

Great for patching existing clothes that don't match color

I'm not a seamstress but someone who needs something like this to mend a dress for another family member. The reason for this is that they did not have threads to match the color of the dress. Worked great, it was fixed in such a way that it was not visible, as if there was a thread of the wrong color. The only frustration we had was trying to "start" the thread as it opened up, but with effort I think we cut the thread and started "in the middle" which worked.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Protection

Great "one coil " solution for hiking or travel in general.

Bought for a camping sewing kit for camping repairs. Because of course, I only carry one coil with me and it goes with pretty much every repair. It is stronger and more resistant to rot than cotton yarn. And it seems easy to work with. Edit 8/1/2017: Okay, I actually had to use this thread. Two of my hiking pants had a button ripped off the fly. So I took those 2 pairs and 2 other pairs that didn't fail, cut off those buttons and then replaced all 4 buttons with this nylon thread. My onlyā€¦

Attention, attention, attention!

2nd update: There is always room to learn more. After a bit of professional training, I've learned that this thread can be amazing when used properly. So, two new lessons on this topic.1. Make sure the thread in your spool is "pluck thread". By that she meant that synthetic filaments are mostly made of plastic microfibers. Examples are polyester, nylon, acrylic. These threads are malleable and more slippery than natural threads like cotton, hemp, or silk. Therefore, do not use synthetic orā€¦

My sewing machine almost broke

I bought this thread to make it easier for me to make face masks to help my community with the Covid-19 crisis. While clear as promised, it's awful. The thread itself was broken in several places which meant I had 4 possible ends to use as a starting point, making it difficult to even get it to the point where I could even use it. When I got to the sewing machine, I couldn't sew a single mask with it. It jammed my machine so badly that my bobbin case came loose and I had to disassemble andā€¦

Perfect for Girl Scout Patches

Love trying color combinations with brightly colored patches so no Girl Scout family! I didn't even know transparent thread was a thing. I accidentally stumbled across this. My middle school daughter can hand sew with thread and I just learned how to use a sewing machine. Both of my daughters are VERY active in Girl Scouts and fill the back of the vest with fun badges and the front with lots of hard-earned badges. They both already had something attached to their vests (handsewn in matchingā€¦
