purchased specifically to separate leaves from herbs such as parsley, cilantro, thyme etc. great for that - 5 stars in that regard but I'm giving 3 because if I used it for its intended purpose I would find number reading almost impossible. It would be 5 stars if they highlighted the numbers somehow, the sensor is robust and economical
Black plastic is slightly faded - see front and back photos, particularly where the paper label has been removed to show the fading. Thick enough - doesn't break easily. holes are accurate. Writing is hard to read - iPhone photos show more writing than you can easily see! Why it's $5 is beyond me, but everything else was more expensive (and probably better made).
I bought it to replace others that broke in service. Before we jump to conclusions, they're plastic and I always carry one in my work shirt pocket. But this prevents them from bending and being subjected to other abuses like when I lift firewood or other heavy objects. I avoid pocket metal gauges because they are impractical. My only complaint/suggestion is that I wish there was a way to highlight the size/fractional numbers so they are easier to read (like my metal drill gauges in my shops)…
