SKLZ Mini 5 Inch Rubber Basketball Review

We bought an SKLZ Pro mini basketball set and wanted a different ball. It was the same terminology, namely, so I didn't think twice about it. This is a tiny mini basketball. My 3 year old can practice dribbling now but the name is still pretty damn misleading. Not worth €6.

This is a really good ball for the price. It's perfectly spherical and dribbles well, but overall feels like a rubber ball, so I question durability. For my taste it is a touch light. I also have two other 5 inch balls. The "Majik" version, which feels an order of magnitude better and is lighter, and the "JustnTymeSports" version, which is slightly more expensive but is really good with a 5 inch bi-ball.

This is not the ball that came with the SKLZ Pro Mini Hoop. Not sure how exactly it differs, but it seems to be so much heavier/denser than the original that it's completely unusable. It's like dribbling and throwing a bowling ball. I found the original fun and safe to use indoors - I have to return this one because it's not fun to use and I feel like I'm going to break everything in my house.

Although the description says some additional inflation may be required, this is not the same as shipping a fully flat ball, which was intended as the box it came in was almost flat so the round ball could never fit in. It was an item we had to use on the day it arrived (for autographs) and we were on holiday so we didn't have access to the pumps. The ball is ok but the description needs to be changed as it is misleading.

This ball deflates which was not a problem. The ball actually looks like a mini basketball, unlike the ball that comes with a Sklz mini hoop which is a soft rubber ball. I can't use this ball indoors like it intended without risking breaking something while bouncing around the room. The impact on the tire and the walls is very loud. I would recommend a styrofoam ball to use with a mini tire at home.

Deflates and requires a pump like a regular basketball. Feels great in terms of material quality. But I bought this for a Halloween costume for my kid and it was useless without buying a pump. It also has a sticky coating of sorts that was a little unnerving. If you're going to wash off the cover and buy or buy equipment to inflate this ball, I think it's a great purchase and well worth it. But in itself it is useless.

Bought this with an adjustable basket I bought for my little one because the balls that came with that hoop were cartoonishly sized. It was the right ratio for the diameter of the tire. The ball is durable, good quality and resembles a regular basketball. The only downside is that it's heavier than those big cartoon balls, so it poses a hazard to anything a poorly coordinated toddler can hit - lamps, furniture, TVs, pictures on the walls. I don't hesitate to use it outdoors or in a less fragile

Our basketball that came with the ring we bought was chewed by our dog so we bought this to replace and we were very disappointed. It just doesn't hold its breath for more than 10 minutes. It could have been a production error. Customer service was very nice, refunded us and let us keep the ball.
