It costs a lot!

It was great! We actually used this on the lock on our basement barn door and it worked like a charm. We drilled through the floor to fix it. It kept people out of our closet and you had to rip the door down before you could get in.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Nothing

Perfect lock to keep the door closed

We have these locks to help the kids in four new pool houses. These locks actually give me 100% confidence. I like that I can lock it with a key at night or when we're going out of town. Extremely durable and easy to install.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Not the best

Once you have this installed you cannot remove

Medium install. The instructions weren't very good at explaining what to do, but provided the best sizes of drill bits for the wood installation. It's easy to mark where the screws will be drilled from above by using toothpicks in the holes you drilled to attach the case. The only tools I used were the awl, jobmax and bits (1/8 and 1/2). Remember that this lock cannot be removed.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Security

Poor quality locking bolts or hardware

You will need a tap to drill holes in the door and much shorter screws to hold it out of the glass. The screws included in the kit are very weak and broke in half when I screwed them in. The bolt was damaged when I grabbed it with a vise. The shear force of the door will in all likelihood pull the hardware out of the door and/or strike plate. My advice. us a broom?

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • boring packaging

Don't waste your time. Cheap, cheap, cheap.

Item arrived and as soon as I took it out of the blister pack it fell apart. Not a big problem, of course I can reassemble it but I don't expect that from a brand new item. It doesn't convey a sense of security. But what I won't do is that the necessary hardware (screws/and/or/bolts) wasn't even included in the kit. The screws that go in there don't even fit. Too small. Very cheap "feel". Very cheap operating mechanisms (keys) and lock.

Pros
  • Surface mount design
Cons
  • Available in white only

Works GREAT on sash windows. Tools are not required. Easy to paste. stay safe Easily removed when the intention is temporary use. Just make sure you check the grinder track width before you buy. I thought all mine were "standard" (which have a fairly narrow gauge) until I tried them on windows I had installed with very wide indentations 7 years ago. We must look for an alternative to these two windows. But I am very happy with what I bought. And great for the price (which I paid anyway)

Pros
  • Used on patio doors, awnings and utility doors
Cons
  • I will add later
