This product works as it is supposed to. It's certainly not the highest quality, but for the price you really can't beat it. bought for reptile cages with sliding doors to keep animals inside not humans so can't speak to their safety. They serve their purpose. You may need to add some spacers under the front bar to easily install the lock (I just use a folded paper towel). One of them works great and slides in and out very easily. I was disappointed with this lock, it didn't live up to expectations. The covers covering the screws will not stay in place once the glass is installed. I was about to send it back. I tried using mounting foam to hold a cheap plastic nozzle that kept falling off trying to install. I was finally able to get them to stay in place with poster putty.
