Keeps Snakes Contained

This product works as it is supposed to. It's certainly not the highest quality, but for the price you really can't beat it. I use these locks on some fairly large boa pens with sliding glass doors so I don't have to worry about a kid accidentally opening one and releasing a 6+ft long snake. For my purposes, having keys still makes my life a lot easier. The only thing I might have preferred to change is replacing the plastic screw caps with rubber ones. Overall I think it's good but for theโ€ฆ

One works great the other not so good

bought for reptile cages with sliding doors to keep animals inside not humans so can't speak to their safety. They serve their purpose. You may need to add some spacers under the front bar to easily install the lock (I just use a folded paper towel). One of them works great and slides in and out very easily. The other one seems to get stuck in the middle and it takes a lot of effort to push it through each time. I tried lubricating it but it didn't help much. So it seems to depend on luckโ€ฆ

Difficult to install due to the screw cover

I was disappointed with this lock, it didn't live up to expectations. The covers covering the screws will not stay in place once the glass is installed. I was about to send it back. I tried using mounting foam to hold a cheap plastic nozzle that kept falling off trying to install. I was finally able to get them to stay in place with poster putty. The ones that were replaced didn't have this problem. The bar itself was also significantly thinner than expected and not straight. I had to bend itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Simple and effective for keeping curious snakes in cages

I've given this a 4 as it does the job well and so far has held up against a 4.5ft boa constrictor that likes its nose rubs against glass, however The locking handle wobbles on the glass, and a rubber stopper needs to be added. Priced at two locks and two keys per set, Pro'sCheapHolds sliding glass doors for young female boa constrictors are fairly easy to lock using the AP2x Cage product Key. Not good for security when used on patio doors but good for display cases. Movable, has no plasticโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • Concise instructions
