Nice, strong, simple mount

I needed a way to support the camera to photograph pages from some of my parents' and grandparents' historical photo albums. It was the perfect item to mount my lightweight camera to a support system I designed (using a bike repair stand I already had). It seems well made and strong enough to carry even a heavier camera than I use.

Pros
  • Can be adjusted 360 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically
Cons
  • Thin

Cool allows me to mount a second camera to record my sessions

I teach portrait photography at PortraNET.com My students want to see my sessions , so I bought one of these to mount the second (Canon 5D MKII) on a tripod because my Canon 1D MKII is on top and used as a portrait camera. Now I can mount a wide angle lens on the second camera and leave a video of the whole session! ROBUST, sure, BUT the size of the pipe that can be run is somewhat limited. My legs on a professional tripod were too fat to mount this device. I had to attach it to the center…

Pros
  • Attached to a tripod leg or light stand, the Slik clamp head holds the camera securely at impossible angles
Cons
  • Reliability

Slik never stops making great things.

I have had a Slik tripod with two Slik heads for over 25 years, I bought a Slik Clamp 38 head a few years ago. I have enjoyed using it so much as a flash holder that I decided to switch to another but due to the price I went with this clamp head 32. It's a bit smaller but works the same as the other one and will hold my flashes without Issues You can tilt your head up or down, and you can also rotate your head to get your flash pointing exactly where you want it without fear of it falling or…

Pros
  • Super Speed Spring Loaded Camera Screw with 1/4"-20 thread
Cons
  • When in doubt

Works great for me: Tripods and Monopods

I bought this to mount a lightweight camcorder to a tripod leg and record live video on my computer which sits on a tray on top of the tripod. The clamp is fleshy. The screw you see farthest from the head is unscrewed all the way, allowing the clamp to open like pliers. I put the clamp on the tripod leg, tighten it, done. The head screw allows the head to rotate 360 degrees around the end of the clamp and rotate 180 degrees top to bottom under the clamp as shown. I would easily mount any…

Pros
  • 2-Way Pan Head (Rotate: 360Β°, Tilt: 180Β°) that allows you to mount it in different positions. Solid metal construction for years of use
Cons
  • boring packaging
