Good product at a good price!

Great price, good packaging and delivery on time! I've been using them for quite some time and after many hundreds of discs, no stands. I wish they came in a hard case but the loose drives are a bit of a downside for such a good product at such a good price!

so good. All 100 burned

So far so good. All 100 burned and no errors. It's 16x, but since I'm superstitious, I'll write it down 8x. (It doesn't take long to record 8x). The only caveat is that I use them for short-term projects. This applies to videos that are actively used for about a month and then discarded. For long term storage I use a much higher quality Verbatim DVD.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Long delivery time

This is my second order from Smart Buy. The first 100 DVDs were recorded and played perfectly. Just note that these DVDs come in packs of 250. And they are NOT on the spindle. So if you have a spare spindle, keep it. You will need it. By the way, I use AVS Disc Cretor. By default, it records at 6x speed. I don't change it and I had absolutely no problems with my first 100 Smart Buy DVDs. I can't appreciate the higher write speeds. Highly recommended.

A good smooth white surface will hold ink - small print is legible.

Nice plain white page for printing. I run them through my Epson Artisan 50 DVD printer and the labels come out just fine. I can also reduce the ink coverage a bit as the flat white side seems to benefit a little in print, but it's still crisp and the small reversed writing is still legible. Who else prints DVDs? I do this, as do all archivists I now know. Will we have DVD players in 5 years? Who knows . . . but i now have many dvds ready to store videos and archives for libraries and clients.

Works great, no stands yet

Works great, no stands yet. I got them and had a video project with multiple discs to burn. Everyone burned great. The labels are matte, which I like. Graphics and print look great. [I have a CD tray on my HP printer] These are full size labels and are very thin which is best. As other users have said they are not packaged in a cake box so the only damage to the packaging was a tear in the shrink wrap but none of them were damaged. I had a spare cake box with 100 spindles so they were easy to…

DO NOT BUY - LOTS OF PIXELINGS AND ERRORS

I have previously purchased a printed DVD+R version from Phillips which is $14.99 for 50 packs but decided to try it because of the price. Hugh's mistake. I've recorded a lot of DVDs on it (more than half of what's available) and unlike Philips (which had no bugs) they were riddled with DVD skipping, pixelation and freezes. I burned the same DVD on this brand and another Phillips I left behind and there were no errors on that DVD but there were a few on this Smart Buy brand. Unfortunately I was

Finally a brand of disc that suits me (again)

I've been trying to find a new DVD+R brand to try after only having about 80% problems with my old Made in Taiwan Reserve had verbatim. +R is last year and appears to be a smart buy brand. I just tried it for the first time and even though I only burned 3 discs it's fine. I'm not thrilled with the way they are packaged, just wrapped in plastic, no spindle as Revain don't package them well at all and they can easily be damaged in transit. Something is definitely wrong with the Verbatims that…
