Wow, it takes a lot of work to make a great product and make it fail. My old secret investigators stood by me for days in high heels, with or without shoes. These keep falling off. They are very high on my toes and cannot be worn with many of my shoes. For real. The only good quality is the fabric but that doesn't make me buy them.

I personally like the new design, the toe is easier to hide than the horrible stripe on the latest smart wool socks. However, they changed the heel. The heel.will.not.stay.in.place. Unfortunately I learned this lesson after a long day on my feet in new shoes and ended up with bloody heels. I stay in my implicit Darn Tough socks.

So disappointed. After years of wearing my amazing old Smartwool Secret Sleuth socks are worn out. Having ordered the same style I am very disappointed to learn that the design has changed and they are no longer for sale for ballet shoes. It was so hard to find ballerina socks that actually held on to the foot. PLEASE bring back the original design shown on the left. It's just the depth of the sock that's too wide now.

Eh, I think they're fine. I don't mind the high vamp in the remastered version, but I don't wear low vamp shoes. I don't think they fit into many ballet flats, for example. They threaten to heel off more than the old style, but usually stay in place. So for me the toe is better and doesn't move as much and the heel is a bit worse. I wish they would offer both the old and the new design. I love this brand because they really fit my 11ft height - hopefully the heel doesn't get worse.

Like most of the other reviewers here, I can't get them to stay on their feet. They move in a bunch, just walk across the hardwood floors. Wearing them with shoes is a pointless annoyance. After a few steps, you slip off immediately. If you've heard or seen good things about these socks then it's probably the old version with a very low cut but elastic at the top. I bought them to look barefoot with some platform shoes and I immediately liked them. I'm a fan of wool socks because of my wool sport socks, so I knew they would breathe well. What surprised me is how well they hold up...the heel never sinks into my shoes like everyone else's. Their secret is a small strip of rubber on the heel that you never feel, but that keeps the heel up. I tried them on my wife and now she seems to have adopted all of them from me so I bought a few more. These new ones…

I bought Smartwool Sleuth socks in a different color a few months ago and they were perfect. Absolutely the best. They didn't come and stayed. So I bought three more pairs for $13.99 each, yes I spent over $40 on socks because they were so great and the product was either completely remanufactured or counterfeit. The forefoot goes over the top of the foot so it's visible in flat shoes, and while the forefoot is visible, the backfoot now slides further off the heel. I wish I could only open one.

I love these little socks. So much so that I've ordered extra pairs of flowers, which I'll be happy to have when the day comes when the pair dies an honorable stocking death (of old age or kitten attack). They stay on my feet, don't slip off the heel. These are the ones that have some silicone in the heel area to keep the toe box on the heels. But I think I have good heels because I have a pair of Secret Sleuth II's that don't have silicone and they don't slip off my heels either. The best…

I wish they wouldn't renew the socks because I'm nervous I won't love them as much anymore. They are smaller and the elastic is only on the heel. You still have a sticky stain on your heel. They actually fit a bit tighter than my old ones (which didn't slip off). I'll update the review if they turn out to be terrible and slip more than my old ones.
