Bought Snow Joe in hopes of increasing the humidity in our home. When the temperature drops in the single digits, the humidity in our home drops to around 20%. We have old-fashioned forced steam emitters. Snow Joe has held up well. I also placed a pyrex container of water on the radiator. I've had the best results with a Pyrex container that I had to fill with water daily. I'm in an old building with old radiators. The grooves on this product are narrow and don't even come close to the wide grooves on my radiators, which means that hardly any water evaporates. When I was a kid we had them made of metal, they fit well and worked well. Both of those radiator humidifiers that I bought hoping they would work as well as metal humidifiers turned out to be virtually useless. If you have a radiator with narrow grooves, these can fit.
