Solberg FS 04 025 Compressor Silencer Diameter Review

The filter/muffler on my compressor was damaged and the tube fitting was sheared off. I looked at the part offered by the manufacturer and it was almost 3 times more expensive than this one. Got the filter housing and noticed the muffler inlet was a larger diameter. Tried a cap from an old one and it fits like a charm. The backend works and sounds as quiet as ever.

I have a CH 10 CFM @ 90psi 60 gallon compressor which isn't the quietest or best balanced compressor I've had there is. The stock air filter seemed to have a small inlet to the filter, so I added a 1/2 nipple and 1/2 to 3/4 adapter to install this filter as an upgrade. It doesn't seem to calm the beast very much, but it's very well made and the filter is a little easier to change than a standard unit.

After reading many blogs about how to make small compressors in your garage quieter for example. Solberg seemed to be a favorite silencer. Using many different brands, colors and labels, only about 2 companies make compressors in the US and the parts are fairly interchangeable. I just rebuilt my big and small compressors.
