Don't let negative reviews put you off this great product. This is an attractive item at a great price. To answer a few questions; the bench, if properly assembled, will easily withstand 300# (my wife and I are together). Also, don't be alarmed if the board "creaks", it's just the top boards rubbing against each other. It is in order. The supplied tool with a spirit level or angle is sufficient for assembly.
