They work great with the Echo Plus as a hub.

Easily connects to Echo Plus, no Smart Things hub required. Connecting both took 2 minutes. Plugins turn on and off with voice commands and accept routines from Alexa. This is a Zigbee device, Protocol A. If your Alexa device doesn't support Zigbee, you'll need a different hub. Don't confuse this with a Z-Wave device, they won't work with the Echo Plus. The price was good, but the Zigbee connection and the shape of the plugs were the main reasons for my purchase. I don't want too many WiFi…

Pros
  • Wide compatibility and voice control. Voice control your home with Amazon Alexa including Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap. SmartThings
Cons
  • Newer model could have been selected

Functional, solid, but not perfect

Yes, I am a person who seeks perfection. This product almost hit the mark, but it falls short on several counts. First of all, my Echo Plus (1st gen) recognized it and was able to add it. This was the best I wanted, I don't want items that require a different Zigbee hub. Second, this connector has a longer and wider design, which is what I wanted so I could connect other items to the same extension. Unfortunately, it seems a bit longer at the bottom so it blocks the connectors on one side but…

Pros
  • Compact design: small and compact body does not block adjacent outlets
Cons
  • boring packaging

Easy to plug in and/or reboot if needed.

I'm totally blind. The power switch on this plug is on the right side if you have it with the ground pin down when plugged into the wall. For the most part, I like Zigbee devices. For a completely blind person, this is the easiest way to connect to the Echo. No further actions with the phone. Plug in your device for the most part and make sure it's online! Then Alexa Scan for new devices. Wait about 45 seconds for the process to complete. Then make sure you can turn the device on and off. Alexa

Pros
  • ZigBee communication with your devices: A compatible ZigBee hub is required to control this socket. Connect your plug to a compatible ZigBee hub such as SmartThings or Amazon Echo Plus
Cons
