Doesn't deserve the sarcasm of other reviews

I've had this Blu-ray player for 18 months now and haven't had any problems watching the latest Blu-ray - Title. You just need to regularly update the firmware. I've only done it 2 times in 18 months. You download the firmware from [.], burn it to CD and wait 10 minutes, now Wallah is compatible with newer Blu-rays. I found the process easy. I just watched Wolverine a few days ago. Yes, the load times are unbearably slow (hence the three stars), but once the old Nelly loads, the picture and…

Good concept, poor execution

This was my first Blu-ray player and I have to say I was NOT impressed. While the picture and sound from this device are excellent, the player itself is MUCH less reliable. These problems have continued after two separate (and presumably successful) firmware updates, so I'm wondering if…

Pros
  • DVD upscaling to 1080p via HDMI
Cons
  • Out of fashion

A year later Problems with BDP-300

My original rating (4 stars) in October 2007 matched others I've seen. quiet, looks good and the picture quality of the Blu-ray DVD is excellent. This compensates for some inconveniences and limitations that I didn't expect from a 3rd generation product: 1. very slow loading time. The manual mentions that times improve once you've done and saved the initial setup. I did and they do but not very noticeable. Maybe I should try af /w upgrade.2. When playing older (normal) DVDs, the picture…
