It does what it's supposed to do

For some reason the idea of a DVD player that would upgrade a standard DVD to a clone HD DVD seemed a little fishy. I have just replaced our old tube TV with a 40 inch high definition LCD TV. The old DVD player seemed to give good results, but curiosity got the better of me. I only chose Sony because the TV was Sony. Other, cheaper brands might be just as good. By connecting both DVD players to the same TV, I was able to try the same DVD on both and see if there was a difference. That was it…

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Has been damaged

MUCH BETTER than expected!

Well, the day has finally come. My old Pioneer DVD player is officially DOA. Seven years later, it's time for a replacement. I've been looking for something similar to what I had for a long time. The most important thing for me that I already had was the optical audio output. It was the cheapest model I could find with that option. Although it can upscale DVDs with an HDMI cable, this was what I was looking for. I have a large collection of children's DVDs and my 2 year old LOVES to help me get

Excellent Player: DVD Player

Having bought the Sony NVP-NS77H/B from Revain for 2 months now I can say with absolute certainty that it is worth every penny. We have a 105 inch front projection home theater with a 16:9 HD projector. On such a large projection screen, any defect, whether the cause is the DVD itself or the player (or both), is magnified and too easily visible. We marvel at the picture quality when watching a good DVD on our system with a Sony player. Details like hair, skin, fabric, textures in general are…

WOW WOW WOW! Why Buy Blu-ray?

Connected this device to my 50" Sony Bravia SXRD Series A via HDMI. I will say that I cannot say for sure if this is a DVD player or Bravia or a combination of both , but I can only describe it as insane! My Bravia is 1080p and has the latest and greatest 120Hz filter which gets rid of the motion blur you sometimes see on the LCD. So I want to throw it away just in case that it's really a bigger factor in my DVD After I hooked up a DVD player to my Bravia with a $19 HDMI cable (Circuit City…

Value from Sony (don't spend anymore now)

I had momentary doubts about this DVD player for two reasons: 1. My Sony TV doesn't have One-Touch Theater Synch as advertised by the company . ”, assuming that the Sony player does not offer any convenience advantages; 2. Last time I bought a Sony TV and a Sony DVD player at the same time, the Sony player remote control had no effect on the Sony TV, not even the power and volume functions. Consequently, I thought about spending less on a Phillips upscaler or more on Oppo's "high-end" upscaler.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
