The SparkFun Simultaneous RFID Reader is an Arduino-compatible board to get you started with the M6E Nano UHF RFID Reader. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is becoming popular everywhere for tracking practically everything. Whether you want to get started by adding an RFID reader on your toolbox with tags on all your tools or allowing access to the tree house for your secret society meetings, this board may be for you!. You can also connect directly to your computer using the FTDI header on the board and read data using the Universal Reader Assistant, or a different microcontroller. With the correct antenna you can read up to 16 feet (4.9m), or 1 to 2 feet with the onboard antenna

Disappointing RFID Reader Nano

After trying this product I found that it had very poor range and couldn't read tags consistently. The setup was also very finicky and the included documentation was not helpful..

They work best in single board computers

These are great little RFID readers. I'm running this on a Linux system with Python using the Mercury API Python wrapper. This thing can read a huge amount of tags and fast. I've seen the results in real time and it's very impressive. I wish the reader was a little cheaper, but it's one of the cheapest options out there and it's very functional. The main reader chip itself costs about $120, so the rest of the cost is the board it sits on, with an internal tracing antenna and a few other…
