Very good transparent GLOSS glaze!

It is not clear from the description, but this glaze is glossy, not matt. It's a little sticky so I dilute it a bit with water and apply it in 3 coats. I've only applied it to small details of my sculptures and fired it with a 6 taper and it looks really good. I wish it was ready to use out of the container instead of diluted so I gave it a star in the review.

Great glaze, good customer service

I study ceramics and use Amaco underglazes with this clear coat. The transparency was a bit thick so I had to blend them before applying which wasn't a problem but for some reason it pulled out the purple, blue and pink colors. I called the underglaze company and they said these colors tend to be so it might not be a clear film after all. I also ordered two jars of this glaze and received a bag of 6 and a bag of 06. I didn't want bag 06, it was accidentally sent to me. So I returned it. It was…

Do not order this frosting!

I have been making ceramics for 20 years. I just moved in and needed a quick high temp frosting so I ordered this because it might be here the next day. Ruined a plate that could easily sell for over $100. Very uneven, dull in some places, glossy in others. This is with 15 minutes shaking. I only had to wait a few days for my standard frosting to arrive. That's my problem, but this icing is not even standard for a classroom πŸ‘Ž Don't order this icing!

Feels very rough and not shiny

The glaze went well and the pink color really helped determine where and how much it was applied. But after firing, the texture on the surface of the part was very rough and not shiny, even though it was advertised as gloss-gloss. It was a good buy for the price and will last she thinks and needed a little watering down but I'm not sure I'll be using it very much given the look and feel. after glazing. upset.

  • New competitors have appeared

I always get good results with Speedball products. If you use them as directed on the "High in High Fire", "Low in Low Fire" label and follow the recommendations, they are close to reliable. Some of them last a little longer than others, so read the specs and think about how you should use them beforehand. Some require heavier application than others, or one coat may be enough. Read product information, take notes when testing chips and each new use. You will find that consistency is the key to
