I've had a hard time with ink. It looks too crisp and writes in almost gray rather than deep black. I tried shaking it but it didn't help. This is a great set for beginners and great for practicing before trying something from a more expensive and thinner set. For what I've used it for I could afford something higher but like I said if you just need to learn and practice this is perfect.

Nice set but doesn't say it doesn't come with nibs. I bought this set to learn calligraphy for my wedding invitations. I ended up having to buy a tip from the store. All nibs were intended for straight lines or voluminous Gothic inscriptions. Neither of them are flexible enough to give you precise stroke variations up and down. I will still use these pens, just for different projects and purposes.

Just starting to learn calligraphy and I found this to be a good set for beginners. However, after practice and more research online, I realized I needed a more flexible tip to make both thin and thick lines. The C series does this with thicker down strokes and thinner side strokes, but the A and B series make the lines basically the same thickness. I like the mascara, it works well and looks beautiful. Silver ink doesn't work very well, it feels runny, but I don't plan to use it.

I did a little research after reading many reviews about various calligraphy kits and decided on this one as a gift for my wife. I think it's good value for money. My wife enjoys using the set and I have not heard any complaints. The delivery was on time. One of the hardest things for me was deciding what type of pen to buy for someone else without letting them know I was considering a purchase. If someone expresses an interest in a calligraphy pen or set it would be nice to know what style…
