Description of πŸ”§ Irwin Tools Blue Groove Speedbor 1891775

Blue-Groove point and cutting edge remove chips 4x faster than standard spade bits for cleaner holes and less binding. Dual-cutting spurs scribe the outside of the hole reducing breakout. 10% larger shank for added durability. Shorter bit length gets into confined spaces (between studs) where standard lengths will not fit. Grooved hex shank is compatible with all 1/4-inch quick-change chucks, including impact drills and reduces slipping in standard chucks.

Drill bit fails to impress

As a result of using this product, I found that it struggled to drill through tougher metals and dulled quickly. While it may work well on softer materials, it simply couldn't keep up with more challenging tasks.

Pros
  • None.
Cons
  • Poor performance on harder material.

Great Drills: Bladed Drills

I've always loved Irwin bladed drills and recommend them. If you need to control depth, buy these instead of self-feed paddle bits.

Pros
  • Blue Grood tip and cutting edge removes chips 4x faster than standard bladed drills for cleaner holes and less sticking
Cons
  • Wrinkled packaging

Good bits, so-so container

Bits arrived on time, sharp and slightly oily. I only took them for a short test drive, but they seem more than adequate. The case, however, left a lot to be desired. For some reason I was expecting a case where each bit would be held securely and individually. Instead, it's just a plastic box that's just the right length and big enough to (barely) hold all the parts. On the other hand, the latch on the box is very secure. It should not open in your toolbox. But now that I have it in my hands…

Pros
  • Short bits get into tight spaces (between bolts) where standard lengths won't fit
Cons
  • So far so good
