Ab works but not the strongest trace signal.

The plastic is not the best quality and only suitable for short runs. If you need to trace a wire a long distance, this won't work. I have a wire that runs from the end of my driveway to my house and I wanted to know where in the house it was routed. It didn't work for that. It's about 90 feet.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

A bad device is best in Electro

PDA batteries don't stay in place, it sucks, the cover falls off and the batteries fall out. The contacts inside for the batteries have shifted. No instructions on how to insert positive or negative batteries. AND WHY THE HELL SHOULD I RATE THIS IF THE SELLER HAS NEVER CONTACTED ME ABOUT A SHIT PIECE, IS NOT VALUED A ONE STAR OR NEVER OPENED THE ITEM UNTIL A RETURN FOR A REFUND WAS LEGAL

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Good but not great

Not as described by testers

No audible "trill" in receiver as advertised. The receiver has no audio function at all and the only indicator you have is the light beaming away from you. On the other hand, the transmitter has an acoustic signal. However, this won't help you if you're in multiple rooms! Even the box says the receiver has sound. Likewise with the instructions. Which, by the way, needs to be downloaded from the Internet. Instructions not available. SEE IMAGE. Returned for a full refund. I will try somewhere…

Works well. Update 11/11/2020

The instructions I could find didn't show the correct direction of coin batteries. 11/11/2020: Not recommended. A tiny button that's too hard to hold when searching in tight spaces. Beyond a few meters, the detection volume is too small for reliable detection. The auto shut off is a pain. You're depressed and it shuts down. You need to get out, reset the transmitter, and then get back to the guts. For desktop testing only. I will have to buy something else. I will give it to my son as an…

Very fragile. Perhaps you should look for a more durable option.

I rarely use this tool. When not in use, it sits neatly in the tool box. I used it today for the first time in years and the tip broke with almost no pressure. The attached photos show how fragile the tip of this tool is. It was barely held in place by fragile glue and very thin wires. Even if you don't use this tool often, you can expect the glue to become brittle and no longer stick, then you can expect the tip to come loose. I wouldn't say that this tool costs close to $40.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • It's ok

Easy to use. Works as advertised

I had to trace a 30 foot ethernet cable from my office through the attic to where my internet company installed my modem. I plugged in the device, ran my pen through the wires, and in less than five seconds realized they were 12 other wires stretching to different ends of my house. Fabulous! Saved me the expense of having an internet company ask their friend to charge a $150 service fee to literally do the same job, test something for a few seconds, and then plug the cable from the modem into…

Difficult to use best in electrics

This product looked nice in the photos but what was missing was a tiny button on the detector that only stays on as long as you hold it down which it doesn't . easy, especially when trying to trace a wire in hard-to-reach places. If the button would activate the device and keep it powered on, that would work best, but it doesn't. Another thing I don't like is that the metal detector uses four button cells instead of standard and readily available AAA batteries. Build quality is good, but…

A good tool in the wireless world too

In the age of wireless technology, this tool may seem unnecessary; until you work in an old house or building. Reusing previously routed coax, UTP, speaker wire, etc. can save you time, money, and hassle if you can figure out what goes where. On the back of this tool are connectors for all types of infrastructure. The transmitter runs 45 minutes before a timeout to save batteries, and the sensor has an adjustable volume that's handy for noisy cross-connect sites. The only downside is that the…
