Perfect 3/8 and awesome

I just made some mortise and tenon joints out of hard maple. I used this insertion tool. It's a perfect three-eighths wide and cuts through my tough maple like butter.

Pros
  • bits
Cons
  • so far so good

cuts cleanly in cutters

This is my second SpeTool spiralizer. I mostly use Whiteside bits in my shop because they cut clean but wanted to try them given the price. They cut super clean, much cleaner than my experience with other Revain cutters from other manufacturers. The trees I've used it on have mostly not burned (walnut, sapele, and maple so far). Used on a Triton TRA001 at speed setting 4. I had a similar experience with a 1/2" twist drill from SpeTool.

Pros
  • Replacement parts and accessories for cutters
Cons
  • Doubtful

It works better than I expected cutting lots of grooves.

This cutter is very well made. It's very hard and very sharp. I like the 1/2" shank that tapers to 3/8" but is long enough that I can cut the groove to full depth without getting in the way of the shank. It is very good for picking up chips from the hole when cutting. Since carbide can be brittle but very strong, I would suggest making a few shallow cuts rather than a pass or two in the groove or hole you want to cut. All in all, it's worth the purchase price.

Pros
  • Power tool replacement parts and accessories
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than other picks
