Good fillet control, thin layers difficult to seal

Purchased to fill the gap between my level of experience and the desired end product we were looking for which was excellent alignment and no edge. He did it, great. The problem arises when you are actually tightening the posts with rotating washers. Because of the shape of the base, the tile actually pulls up and away from the thin layer. We were lucky: some tiles stuck while others showed up. I'm sure this could have been avoided with more attention, but since the product 'even a novice can…

Good product. Worth every penny.

Before we started the entire master bathroom renovation, we had never tiled it. We used 18 inch square tiles and this product made things a lot easier. We have used them on the floor, walls and in the shower and they have worked great. Without something like this, laying large tiles without "lips” would be extremely difficult. We put 2 Spin Doctors on each side and used a completely different corner padding. We banged the Spin Doctors towards the grout line at 24 hours and each broke as…

Don't lay tiles without one!

I am in the process of completing a shower remodel which was a first for me for a number of reasons. I'm taking a shower for the first time. This is the first time I'm tiling a wall. Use tiles larger than 12x12 for the first time. I ordered them a bit skeptical that they would work, but they are fantastic. Spacers under the tile when you lay the tile, then tighten the top to align everything. Another review said something about spacers bursting, I don't know how that could have happened. It…

Is it important!

I used large format tiles for the walls and bathroom. I've read about Lippage but have never worked with a large format tile. Based on research I settled on a tile leveling system and I'm glad I did. I immediately realized that without any system whatsoever, my tiles would be up and down and all around. Thanks to the system, the wall looks smooth and beautiful. I've also read about the difficulties when leftover plastic spacers are left in the tile. For the most part I was fine. I just hit them

So easy to use measuring and marking tools

I wish I had had these devices 25 years ago when I was laying tiles all day. These red caps rotate on a thin plastic base that is set into the cement (thin set) used to bond the tiles to the floor. The image shows the result of using the Spin Doctor tile leveling system. I put this beautiful ceramic floor (looks like wood) in the small bedroom of my house. I hated the old carpet and ended up taking it off, patching all the concrete nail holes and then starting this project. It's been many years

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Easily wrinkled

This system works, but there are a few headaches.

So I tiled two small bedrooms, one without a leveling system and the other with a Spin Doctor system using 1/8" black spacers. I'm much happier with the lack of lipage in the wrestling room. I use them with no additional friction pads, which Revain doesn't carry for some reason. Tightening the caps did NOT scratch my imitation wood printed porcelain tiles. However, the company recommends seals for natural stone. Tip #1: I've had better luck using them on straight joints instead of T-joints. I…
