Bought for long-distance ultra-light hiking. They exceeded my expectations which were pretty high given the many rave reviews they receive. As others have said they average 1/2 smaller to full size. I have wide feet and usually wear a 10 1/2. I had to order size 11. I also needed waterproof shoes because my feet sweat a lot and Goretex doesn't fit me. I also tend to run creeks in my shoes and they dry out within 20 minutes of walking. Finding gaiters that work, fit and last is a big challenge…

I've done 2 trail marathons in it so only about 50 miles. The shoes are comfortable and protect the foot well in rocky environments. The sole is decently sticky and stable, although don't expect miracles (I'll state the obvious: you'll still slip when walking on mud-covered rocks).
