This 2 " carbide tip hole gnaws through 2x4's with ease!

This system is amazing. The Spyder mandrel is the heart of the tool, with a retractable shaft lock for easy core removal. This 2" carbide tipped hole will gnaw through 2x4's easily, but if you're looking for a clean, thin hole, use with care! You might want to try a more traditional multi-tooth saw. The Spyder arbor can be used with most standard hole saws.

Not durable Good for drill parts and accessories

I've been addicted to this...instead of a diamond hole saw...a YouTube video of the Spyder team drilling holes in a concrete block fence. Exactly what I wanted to do. However… this tool is short-lived. After grinding the concrete block of the fence, two 2 inch (51 mm) diameter holes were drilled. But . I found that one of the carbide bits (of three) on the tool was broken in half, chipped. Although this tool "does the job"... I'm disappointed it went bad after only two holes. Therefore I gave…

Ideal for woodworking.

So far I've only used this for soft woods (pine) on my drill press, so I can't give a good overview of how they work by hand or with harder materials (like metals). It cuts smoother and faster than bimetal, produces shavings, no dust, eliminating the need for constant stops to clean the cut of dust, and the teeth are clean and cool. This allows me to drill three holes in the time it takes the bimetal to cut through one. I run the drill a step faster than recommended for a regular hole saw…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
