A very simple upgrade. - Power Strips and Surge Protectors

First of all, if you do not know how to work with and around electricity, I do not recommend self installation. Working directly on the power rail is dangerous and can be fatal if you do not do the right thing. However, the installation was very easy. Installing Plug-on-Bus was incredibly easy. The part of the installation that took the most time was the re-tagging of the breaker box. This device may not offer the same level of protection as some of the others that suit Schneider Electric's…

Cons
  • Slightly Dented

My previous block was over 20 years old and had no block health indicator, just a metal tube. After the storm, I decided it was time to get a new block. I have a Square-D Homeline Switch Panel and was looking for something that would fit my panel and have a VISIBLE display of the device status. It met both requirements and was available for download. I turned off the main switch first, then removed the cover plate. I had to move a few existing switches, but burying them was very easy. Do not…

No Electrician Required

I don't usually write reviews but this was so easy to install I had to. Step one: Turn off the main switch panel. (For me it was 3 steps: turn off the solar inverter, turn off the solar panel master breaker, then turn off the panel master breaker). Step Two: Remove the switches covering the control panel. (2 screws for me) Step 3: Find a place to install it on the main switch stem. (I've read that mounting closer to the top was most effective, so I moved 2 breakers down. Just pull it out from…

Don't leave home without it!

We live in rural Texas Hill Country, in a rural area, and power outages happen more often than we'd like to think. And we have a lot of electronics that we don't want to lose. What's even scarier is that we live on a hilltop and nearby lightning strikes are all too common. (Our neighbor's transformer blew up - a very scary thing.) This little device acts as a "whole house surge protector". It is placed in your electrical box, which the utility company uses to power your home - in the same box…

Second line of defense against lightning

I live in the lightning capital of North America, Orlando, Florida. As a result, after my last lightning strike loss (probably 5 times in the last 20 years), my electrician recommended that I install TVSS/surge protectors as a second line of defense (the first line is a surge protector, which my electrical company has). installed on my electricity meter). TVSS stands for Transient Surge Protector. He recommended I install two, one in the outer main box (Figure 2) and one in my inner switch box…
