SRAM Centera 8 Speed Twist Set Review

Although I'm not an experienced cyclist I find swing gears easier to use. In my case I have arthritis in my thumb joints. Squeezing the original factory shifters caused a painful strain.

The product was great and seems hard to find elsewhere so I'm not returning it. But the product information showed switches with a pair of buttons on the steering wheel. I didn't receive the pens so I had to order them separately.

I found this online and the bike shop I went to first wanted to give me cheaper shifters at a higher price. Luckily I was able to get that from Revain and I went to another bike shop and they installed it for a lower price than the other bike shop. The quality is good and now I can see what gear I'm in when I shift gears. Great price and value.

I bought these to replace a SRAM Max Plus derailleur set and they work great. A minor complaint is that one of the set screws is missing. Luckily I had the right size in my set screw collection. Another small complaint is that the other part of the buttons that come with the switches are too long. They work well but look silly as they protrude far beyond the handlebars and because of the way they are contoured they can't be easily cut.

I bought it in 2010 and drove several thousand miles on it. Rubber oxidizes over time and becomes sticky so I just ordered a new kit for all the bikes in my fleet. These guys are excellent and I usually ditch the small grips that come with them and use the full size grips with them on my recumbents for my oversized hands.
