Most SRAM products have shift ratios of 1-1. Shimano has a 2-1 ratio, meaning you can't mix and match. But the SRAM MRX and MRX PLUS are designed to work properly with Shimano derailleurs. For people with limited hand strength, the MRX PLUS is of great help as the switch set includes a handle in its design. The entire grip actuates the switch with the whole hand, not just the circled thumb and forefinger.

Good product. The derailleur on my big tire Mongoose bike finally broke. I replaced it with this one, nice upgrade. Easy installation, watched YouTube video on how to adjust the rear derailleur to set the gears. Any competent person should be able to do this in 1/2 hour. Shifts clearer and smoother now.
