Pastel pencil recommended by the author. i use it and i love it. This gives me the ability for chiaroscuro that I didn't have before, although the book teaches that. It's a lot of fun to use the pen to create the effects you want. I sincerely recommend people to use this pencil and study the principles of chiaroscuro.
