Opens at the right temperature. Stays Stable

The thermostat works the same as replacing a Delco air conditioner. It doesn't maintain a constant temperature like the original did. 5.7 Vortec engines are prone to spark plug fouling if the engine is not warmed up in cold weather. Therefore, it is important to have a thermostat that maintains the temperature of the stay.

Pros
  • 25% larger bulb diameter for 1 1/2 performance of standard thermostats.
Cons
  • #

After two years, which is less than 15,000 miles on my Silverado, this unit stopped working. Its performance started to decline a few months earlier as I watched the average operating temperature slowly increase before failing completely. Stick to reputable OEM parts, especially as your car ages, and you'll drive better with it.

Pros
  • Thickened flange.
Cons
  • disappears

Well it works as it should.

Well it works as it should. Since it's a superstat, I didn't notice any difference when cooling down or warming up. In fact, I didn't notice any difference at all. UPDATE APRIL 22, 2018 5 months since last install - it works very well. My truck doesn't overheat. Didn't notice it getting cooler than my old thermostat. My old thermostat was fine, but I replaced it as a precaution.

Pros
  • Uses venturi for maximum cooling performance at high temperature and high load.
Cons
  • Compatibility

It works, let's see how it behaves when I tow the boat.

This is the second Superstant I have purchased, the first is a 160 degree Superstant for my boat engine and it does what it is supposed to do when running at around 170 degrees in a closed cooling system runs. . This came in my truck, took 5 minutes max to install and I noticed the old thermostat ran cool. This one is running 210 degrees right now, in the middle. It's a good investment and will help your engine run more efficiently.

Pros
  • Installation Type: Vehicle Specific
Cons
  • Some bugs

Update: Works fine - the thermostat wasn't the problem originally.

Updated: I've since learned that my thermostat AND the dash temp sensor failed almost simultaneously. This thermostat works perfectly - I confirmed this by hooking up an OBD sensor and reading the actual temperature from the car's computer, not the temp sensor, and it was accurate. We apologize for the initial erroneous review. Original: I bought this as a 195 degree thermostat to replace the one open stuck in my Chevy pickup. It fits and works perfectly, but only regulates the temperature to…

Pros
  • Premium Superstat Thermostat.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
