Chinese made square, don't be fooled by the Starrett brand

If you want a Chinese made square you can find another brand at a much lower price than these buy squares. The Starrett brand doesn't make sense, they moved production to China.

Pros
  • Inner corner treated to be free of burrs and debris
Cons
  • Negative gift

134 years of products made in the USA.

.wasted. Glad it's made in China. Like Adjustable Clamp, Starrett has resorted to the shoddy practice of putting her name on Chinese-made tools without telling you. Don't waste your money if you want a china made square pay 5 dollars it's worth it. Oh but it has a nice plastic box! Don't buy Starrett, it's clearly time for her to go broke.

Pros
  • Blade length 5-29/32" (150mm), Beam length 3-29/32" (100mm)
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Smart, well made, inexpensive.

This square is well made, affordable and highly accurate. This tool was the perfect choice for me as I didn't want to spend more than $300 for a US made reference square, but I didn't trust any of the imported squares as a reference square. I've found that many of the old US tool companies now offer imported angles. However, the ones I've seen are nothing more than an expensive way to buy the same cheap tools that "some freight company near the port" offers. This Starrett place is completely…

Pros
  • Perpendicularity to 0.0002 inch/0.005mm
Cons
  • Medium
