Not suitable for probe collets

The barrel of this edge finder is either curved or has a protrusion. It doesn't fit 3/8 collets like it should. It's not my collet because other edge finders fit perfectly. They seem somewhat accurate when used in a drill chuck, but they aren't as accurate as my collets, so I can't guarantee the accuracy of my edge finder.

Pros
  • Packaging dimensions: 11.43 H x 2.794 D x 4.318 W (centimeters)
Cons
  • Drill Kit

Nicely made and works well

This is the 7th viewfinder I've had to buy (I kinda tend to break them) but this is the best. Under ideal conditions and if I was careful, I was able to capture the edge to within 0.0002 inches, which is the resolution of my digital diffractometer, so it can be even more accurate. And judging by the packaging, they're still made in the USA.

Pros
  • Country of origin: USA
Cons
  • So far so good

Starrett isn't Starrett anymore.

If you don't need precision, that's fine. It's a bit shorter (compared to most) when using 3/8 cat50, but I think it fits in collets. will never find with a drill chuck. Using a .375"cat 50 holder on the new Summit HBM110h, this edge finder consistently deviates from .002 (yes, I've tried other holders and tg/er32/&er40 collet holders). If you're concerned about accuracy, buy a Brown & Sharpe. To me it didn't live up to the Starrett name. Starrett seems to be declining in quality and making too

Pros
  • Package Weight: 0.045kg
Cons
  • Expensive
